When the project architects started updating the Westchester County Center Arena, they quickly realized they would need an expert to work with them to design sound & lighting solutions for the 10,000 seat arena. They chose our company as they had on several prior projects. Peter Starr, President of Starr Digital Technologies & Chief Engineer Jim Falco performed a full acoustical analysis of the room and used the results to design an acoustical treatment solution for the venue.
Once the acoustical issues of the space were addressed we moved on to the design of the concert sound & lighting systems. The room is used for many diverse events, from concerts to trade shows & sporting events. This necessitated a center of the room sound & lighting array as well as the usual front of house locations.
These systems must change their configuration quickly & smoothly to suit the specific event's requirements. Peter utilized a Crestron control system to tie all the complex systems together, making switching configurations simple with video touch screen control, custom GUI programmed menus and push-button simplicity.
After analyzing all the acoustical data, Peter designed a large Eastern Acoustic Works KF740-based front of house speaker rig with additional coverage from center of the room arrays. The stage and center of the room lighting systems consists of 85% LED technology and uses all color changing moving heads. The lighting system features Chauvet Rogue R3 wash lights, Maverik MK2 spot, Maverik MK1 Hybrid, and Clay Paky A.Leda B-eye20. A large Chauvet PVP X3 on-stage video wall is also in the mix. These are truly cutting edge systems with a nod to the future.
